Guardian for Homes

Ideally, every home would be equipped with a Guardian Detection Kit.  In an emergency it can be just as vital as smoke detectors, flashlights and radios.

Consider that should a dirty bomb or other disaster occur, emergency personnel will be busy at ground zero and will be unable to respond to surrounding neighborhoods in a timely fashion.  Citizens need to know if it is safe in their homes, or if it is safe to go outside.

The only way to effectively assess the situation is through the use of radiation detection equipment.

The ideal solution is to purchase the Guardian-2000 kit.  However, we are making available a lower-cost alternate, the Guardian-1000 kit.  This kit will still be able to do adequate assessments of radiological contamination.  It is just not as sensitive as the instruments in the Guardian-2000 kit.  The following instruments comprise the Guardian-1000.  All components are optional and we can configure a kit to meet your needs and budget:

Gamma Radiation Dosimeter:  this device is the heart of the kit for radiation detection.  Turn it on.  If it starts alarming after initialization back away from the apparent source of radiation until the level goes down.  Call 911 and explain situation to experts, if possible telling them your readings.  While on, this device tracks the dose you receive.

Alpha/Beta/Gamma Radiation Survey Meter:  this device can be used in conjunction with the dosimeter to help you find and identify radioactive objects.

The following detection instruments are optionally available, either in a custom kit, or all together in our GDK-1RTG kit.

Gas Detector:  this device, standard in the GDK-1RTG kit can be used to identify levels of carbon monoxide in the area.  The GDK-500 is also available which detects the following gases- oxygen, to make sure there is adequate oxygen supply in the air; carbon monoxide; hydrogen sulphide and other explosive gases.

Infrared Thermometer:  this device enables you to read surface temperature from a distance.  Point and shoot at ceiling areas or distant walls, for example, to determine if they are hotter than normal without the need of a ladder or entry into a possible dangerous area.

Really tight budget?  Start with just a GDK-420 Rad Meter to do basic radiation detection.
