How
Guardian Works
Guardian-2000 kits include a sophisticated and sensitive radiation dosimeter and a radiation survey instrument. Additionally, they may include a gas detector, an infrared thermometer and a biological agent detection kit. This detection kit gives you the tools to make decisions: whether or not to call 911 for help in a localized situation; whether or not to leave your location in an area-wide disaster in which emergency officials may not be available.
Consider the following examples for a church:
- There is a truck accident outside the church during youth group meetings. Use the radiation monitors and gas monitor to determine there is no hazard to the youth inside or outside the church.
- A loud noise is heard in the basement.
Use the IR Thermometer to determine there are no hot
spots of concern from a distance.
Use the gas detector to determine there are no unsafe
gases in the area before enterin
g to investigate.
- 3. A member of the church calls about some spilled powder they have discovered. Though there is a probably simple explanation, she is very concerned. Use the bio kit to determine if there is any need to call 911.
- 4. A member discovers some strange
device that has been in their attic for years, but they are
concerned there could be a radioactive component.
Check it out with your survey meter to put them at ease.
- 5. A “dirty bomb” explosion has been reported in a nearby city. Reports indicate there is no danger in your area, but your senior citizens are very concerned. Drive to their homes with your radiation dosimeter to take measurements and put them at ease.
